Me and the work husband!
The relationship we've developed over the last 3 years is one I never would have assumed a married Indian Hindu guy could have with a single Black American girl but he's the best! Scientifically, he's a boss. He's super smart and has great instincts and leadership skills. And he's all around a nice guy. He accepts the idea that my friendships are just as important to me as his marriage is it him. That's a big step. That's a forward thinker for you! When ML texts or calls he's all "Talk to her. I'll come back." Yup….he's a keeper! I couldn't have gotten a better partner to walk through grad school with!
So who's the "y'all" I'm happy for?
This guy and his wife wife are pregnant!
I'm super happy for him! He wanted this…they've wanted this for a while and with all the upheaval of moving across the country they had to postpone this blessing but its finally here!
I found out when they weren't even 4 weeks because he requested I come to lab while I was writing my dissertation (read: not planning to come in) but when this guy asks its never for no reason so I obliged. His text actually said
"Will u be in lab tomorrow? Need to seek guidance about something asap. As in tomorrow".
Then he took me into this parking structure and was all "I don't know how to say this but" And showed me a picture of the test saying "Pregnant." To be honest, as soon as he said that about not knowing how to say it I was like O__O and I honestly thought maybe they were pregnant but I didn't guess it out loud just incase it wasn't that! He wanted to know what I thought because I did my comprehensive in Obstetrics and I''m going into the field as my specialty. See…the work husband trusts my opinion just like I trust his. This happens to be my area so we had lunch and talked Obstetrics. It was delightful.
Yup…this work wife is super excited for the real life of her work husband and his wife wife!
Sorry for the delay in posting. The work husband asked that I wait 4 weeks to tell anyone! I wrote the post the night he told me though!
P.S. They had the ultrasound yesterday and they're about 9-10 weeks along! :-)
