Science is entirely predicated on data.
I am a scientist. I can claim anything, theorize anything, hypothesize anything but at a certain point I must prove something. I must use techniques that exist and sometimes ones I must create to prove that a thing is a thing.
Calling a thing a thing doesn't make it one. Data proving a thing is, in fact, a thing does.
My entire academic study is based on this. Every step builds on the previous one until you can draw a conclusion. I spent FIVE years proving about 4 sentences. My entire contribution to science, for which I received a Doctorate of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Science, can be summed up in 3-5 sentences. So forgive me if I'm skeptical but my question to all of these women accusing Bill Cosby of inappropriate behavior is....
Where is your data?
20 people can say whatever they want. We had this problem in 2006 in the science community. Some scientists out of South Korea said they could clone human embryonic stem cells. When this was proved to be false, their papers were retracted. Their data did NOT support their conclusion. You can not draw a conclusion without data.
Data is numbers.
Data is testable.
Data is the only thing from which a conclusion can be drawn scientifically.
Thus, because sexual interactions can be proven via science, I ask again where is your data?
If no one can produce any data, they can not draw any conclusions. The words of a scientist mean nothing without data. My boss talks a lot but behind him, on the powerpoint slides, is the data proving what he is saying. The same thing was true when I defended my PhD.
Data is the only thing upon which conclusions can be built in my book.
Without data, you simply have a story. And a story is NOT a fact.
