Its Always Yes

Nothing about the way I love her is without focus
without presence of mind
without tenderheartedness
without consideration

Nothing about the way I love her lacks judgment
To love her
as I do
I've got to be sure
I've got to know
down to the core of truth
that this
this tidal wave of emotion
  avalanche of desire
     monsoon of devotion
         earth shattering cyclone of fidelity
is real

I've got to be able to go before my God
Who loves mewith reckless abandon
and answer His question
A simple one
given to me
time and again
"Forsaking all others?"
And say
with no doubt
no misgiving
no equivocation
with urgency
tenacity
strength
and humility
Yes
Yes, I'd choose her
Yes, I'd walk with her
Yes to all the things she'd ever ask
and all the things You require
Yes, I'd give myself up for her
as Christ did for the Church
Yes

To think love unintelligent belittles it
Love is an acrobatic game of puzzles
pieces fitting together
compromises causing some things to fall away
choosing to let others go
Love is cerebral at its best
its a decision
followed by action
a thought
followed by movement
Love is nothing if not academic

Thoughtful does not begin to illuminate what is love
Love is a continuous stream of consciousness
a continuous consideration of the other
a give and give, if you will, of everything
an emptying of yourself and a refilling
not from your love
but the Source of Love
Love asks nothing
but demands more than I thought I had in me
It requires more of me than I knew I had to give
and yet, it drains me not
As I pour without ceasing into her
I am still overflowing with Love from Him

When I look at her
when I gaze upon her beauty
or even when my mind brings her face to just behind my eye lids
its emotional and academic
its visceral and cerebral
its more than I could have conceived of
     and nothing I'll ever deserve
it drives me to my knees
     and forces me to walk into each day boldly

Love
in all its splendor
is both heart and head
its more than we can hold in either
When I say I love her
I say in my mind
She's the one my soul loves
I say in my heart
She's the one my mind never leaves unattended
I say in my spirit
My heart belongs with her
With absolute clarity of thought
and intention
I love you
