2 Phrases

"This is what I have for you. Say yes."

That statement is the entire reason that Howard became my #1 choice for medical school.

I was walking down the steps to get in the car with my sister after my interview and that's when I heard God say this to me.

"This is what I have for you. Say yes."

(Subsequently, I told my sister I was gay. Yup...that very same car ride.)

That was the beginning of my journey to Howard and can I say it's been AWESOME!

I love my school.
I love that I get to be as involved as I want to be clinically.
I love that I get as much responsibility as I do clinically.
I love teaching sports medicine.
I love being on the most important committee at my school during the most important year of my tenure (It's an accreditation year!)
I love that I was courageous enough to be out
I love being out and finding that there are no limitations on me because of it.
I love my mentors.
I love my OB/GYN department.

I never could have imagined loving my educational experience at Howard this much but I do.
If someone had told me I was going to do all these things, be all these places, and have such a great time doing it...I'd have been like "Nahhhh that's a definite reach."

But its my life.
Its my lived reality.
I'm so glad I said yes.
