Y'all Friends

So I got this email saying my OB chief resident was doing this program with teen girls to prevent teenage pregnancy. Since I saw her name there I decided I'd go.

So its this normal meeting situation right. I'm definitely going to do it, especially since ACOG is going to add to our dean's letter as a result of participation.

Anyway....

The point is I walked up to our Chief after and she was like "Hey girl!" and we started talking.

Apparently, they're interested in having someone who actually is gay talk to the girls and yes, my chief knows I'm gay. The girls are at that age of exploring and maybe finding out they have some same sex attraction but no one that works with them can really speak to that. I think my decision to approach med school as openly as possible helps people understand a lot of different things about gay people like I'm normal, deeply religious, and just like them except I want to see my bride walk down the aisle to me.

Anyway, so we're chatting about that especially since she knows I'm super comfortable with my out status.

Later on, I get a call from a friend who was at the meeting and she had done the program the previous semester.

So she's all "You friends with Dr. Chief Resident?"

And I was like "Yea, you'd be surprised at how friendly you can become in overnight call especially since they were trying to set me up with this guy on our first night call together and I had to lay out my situation with my love and whatnot."

Friend: "Oh so y'all friends then."

Me: "I guess. But you were in the program last semester. I'm sure y'all are friends too" (because she's clearly pressed that we're friends)

Friend: "Nah. She was like "Hey Girl" with you."

Me: "Did I say that?"

Friend: "Nah, she did. Y'all friends. Clearly. Everyone in OB loves you. I'm clearly in your shadow. Its cool."

Me: "Girl....anyway."

But yea, if you see me interact with any of the OB faculty or the residents, its going to be way more personal and comfortable than you expect. I'm pulling 12 hour shifts that I ain't got to do. They respect that.

Listen, my goal is to be the #1 overall pick for my institution in 2019. This is the playoffs of med school and I want my home team to want me.

I want them to be like "we didn't see anything better than the girl we already got!"

So yea, they know me.
I make sure of it.
